Maharani of Mysore
Maharani Kempa Nanjammani Vani Vilasa Sannidhana (1866 − 7 July 1934), was a queen and regent of Mysore, regent between 1895 and 1902 during the minority of Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV. During the seven year rule of her regency the State of Karnataka witnessed much progress especially in the field of public works, health and education. In 1893, she had been conferred the ‘Crown of India’ award. She made a mark in the annals of modern Mysore history by her grit, boldness, administrative acumen, integrity and benevolence which she had for her subjects. In recognition to her service as Regent, she was accorded the privilege of having 19 guns salute for the rest of her life.
